Steppes Farm Holiday Cottages - Visitors Book

We think this is our 4th visit to Steppes Farm and it really does feel like our second home with Adrian & Karen making us feel like part of the family.  We always know that whatever the weather you will have a fantastic time staying here.  Emma and Rae are fantastic with the girls and it is down to Emma’s tuition last year that our girls now have riding lessons at home.  This year they have ridden most days whilst here.  Would recommend the Masons Arms in Camelford for dinner and the local fish and chip shop is great – we went 2 nights in a row !  Thank you so much – see you next year !!  Love Clare, Andrew, Lauren & Emily xxx, Essex – Owl Cottage.

Well the years get better every time we come !  Owl Cottage is lovely !  Thank you so much Karen, Adrian & Emma & Rae for a fabulous week.  We have loved helping around the farm, such as mucking-out and brushing.  Brightly gets better every year.  Emma you are a brilliant teacher and thanks to Rae for letting us ride even with a poorly ankle – Lauren – Owl Cottage.

Thank you for a tremendous break, the Cottage is lovely and you gave us some excellent advice and were constantly helpful and attentive.  We particularly liked Greyham the cat !  and the hot tub … even in February !  - Matt & Alex - Dove Cottage.

Thank you for a fabulous week.  The Cottage is lovely – super clean, cosy bedding, fantastic location.  Good pub for food at Trebarwith beach (The Port William) plus good coffee shop and fab beach for rock pooling, sandcastles etc.. Also ate at The Mote in Port Isaac – very good food.  We’ve enjoyed everything about Steppes Farm and the surrounding area and will certainly be back – Adam, Lizzy, Rosie & Martha, Ashtead, Surrey – Owl Cottage.

Goose Cottage is amazing.  The views are beautiful.  It was Elizabeth’s first break and it was perfect.  She loved the horses.  It was a brilliant base for all the adventures we had.  See you again very soon – thank you – Samantha, Shane & Elizabeth – Goose Cottage.

Cottage was lovely, as it always is.  I knew you’d have a chopping board but I just couldn’t remember where – you think of everything x  This time we enjoyed Padstow again (with the rhubarb and apple and custard pasty).  Rocky valley was breathtaking, Boscastle again – with blackcurrant ice cream from the National Trust shop recommended by Lee.  Bodmin and Wadebridge for some mooching round the shops.  Penzance, further afield which we enjoyed with friends. The New Inn (actually The Old Inn, St. Breward), but I kept getting the name wrong, I put a mill in it at one point !  Anyway for good food have the maxi grill.  Polzeath beach was beautiful, the surrounding greenery looked vibrant as we luckily had a nice sunny afternoon.  Rock by car (we couldn’t find where to go !).  Our favourite beach Trebarwith Strand with all the lovely rock pools, plus The Masons Pub for a lovely meal in Camelford.  Not forgetting Malcolm Barnecutt !!!  His jam and cream sponge is heaven and topped all other nommage on the holiday !!!  So lovely to see you all again, as well as Colin and the Colinettes, Greyham, Brightly, Ollie & Archie – all looking happy.  A lovely holiday again, thanks xxxxx – Emma Sims (Lady Faffington Cake-A-Lot) & Lee, Wrexham, North Wales – Owl Cottage.

We have had a lovely stay at the Cottage, a very relaxing time !  Feel like I’m ready for another hectic year after a chilled-out break.  Enjoyed visiting Padstow for the day after a walk to Steppers Point.  Thank you to Adrian and Karen for making our stay as comfortable as possible.  Happy New Year – Stephen & Vanda, Manchester – Dove Cottage.

A great holiday in a beautiful place.  Great beaches at Polzeath and Padstow.  The Eden Project was a highlight.  Lovely picnic by the river at Bodmin Moor – see the Guest Information book; found frogs in the river.  Some rock pooling success at Crackington Haven but nowhere else, crabbing at Padstow was fantastic.  Padstow itself is beautiful, as is Port Isaac.  I loved the Post Office at Tintagel.  The Castle was good too.  Grace enjoyed the pony riding – Emma was great.  Look out for the wildlife – we were lucky enough to see owls, a weasel, jays and a mouse !  If it’s wet, there’s a nice cinema at Wadebridge – Amanda, Kev, Sam, Grace & Thame – Oxfordshire – Goose Cottage.

Many thanks for your hospitality and a very comfortable stay in Owl Cottage.  It has been a very good base for touring North Cornwall and Devon.  We have covered many miles, plus seeing our friends who have moved to Pyworthy.  Our favourite places are still Port Isaac and Boscastle.  Many thanks Adrian & Karen we have enjoyed our stay and the walks with the Cat – Kay & John, Suffolk – Owl Cottage.

We’ve had a great week at Steppes Farm.  The Cottage is gorgeous and exceptionally well-equipped.  A great location and base to explore Cornwall.  Highlights were – Eden Project, coastal walk from Widemouth Bay to Bude – gorgeous.  Walked up Roughtor and Brown Willy – great views !  Tintagel is very quaint.  Polzeath beach is possibly the most beautiful I’ve ever seen – worth a visit.  Thanks for a gorgeous stay – Becky & Simon, Hampshire – Dove Cottage.

We enjoyed our stay in Cornwall.  We managed a couple of swims in the sea – many lovely beaches to explore.  Many thanks to Adrian & Karen – Goose Cottage has been beautifully restored, was very well-equipped and immaculately clean.  A big thank you to Emma for fitting in a couple of riding lessons for the girls.  Brightly is a sweetie xx – Sarah, Peter, Lucy & Rachel, Leicester – Goose Cottage.

We had a wonderful time at these lovely Cottages close to the edge of the moor.  Thanks for the kind hospitality and the chance for our kids to get to know the animals on the farm - the chickens, Greyham the cat, Brightly the horse and co..  It is a rather special spot here with great views and fresh air.  The Cottages are perfectly kept and well looked after – so keep up the good work – Myra, Joshua, Erica & Laurence, Greifswald, Germany – Owl Cottage.

We have had a lovely week at Steppes Farm and a warm welcome.  Cottage lovely and comfortable and cosy.  We have managed some lovely trips – Boscastle, would recommend the Manor House Sunday carvery.  Other outings included Tintagel – stunning scenery and Padstow where we enjoyed a walk along the coast beside the Camel Estuary and Rick Stein’s fish and chips.  Bodmin Jail is worth a visit and Wadebridge has a nice variety of individual shops.  A great base to explore Cornwall.  Thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and sauna too.  Thank you for a lovely stay – Julia & Matt, Dorset – Dove Cottage.

Thank you so much to Adrian, Karen & Emma for allowing us to share their dream farm and stay in Goose Cottage.  The Cottage is lovely, well-equipped and a wonderful retreat.  We’ve had a brilliant two week celebration holiday, having used Goose Cottage as a base for our travels around Cornwall.  We can recommend the coastal walks especially Boscastle to Tintagel and around Fowey.  Trebarwith Strand beach is beautiful.  The Minack Theatre was excellent and well worth the journey (especially as we managed to see the Olympic Torch).  A holiday to remember – Thank you xx – Ceri & Geoff, Wakefield, West Yorkshire – Goose Cottage.

We’ve enjoyed a wonderful stay at Owl Cottage – home from home, with everything we needed.  We’ve also made good use of the hot tub – what a bonus !  Looking forward to a return visit next year – The Harringtons and The Christians, Norfolk – Owl Cottage.

Had a good week with good weather.  Dove Cottage lovely and lots of places to explore.  Liked Treabarwith Strand and had some great coastal path walks from Boscastle and from Bude to Widemouth Bay, also walking by the sea canal.  Lots more places to come back and explore another time.  Thanks to Adrian for advice and places to visit and all the useful recommendations written by previous visitors in this book – Louise & Martyn, Birmingham – Dove Cottage.

Amazing Cottage, amazing views, what more can we say ?  We have had a brilliant week here.  A very warm welcome from Adrian which was very much appreciated.  Thank you very much for letting us share Steppes Farm with you xx – Christine & Tony, Kent – Goose Cottage.

Had a wonderful relaxing time at Steppes Farm.  Owl Cottage lovely and everything we needed.  Very clean and cosy. Look forward to returning and exploring more of this lovely county.  Shame our children are grown up, as they would have loved the farm and the animals.  Thank you Adrian & Karen – Gerry & Mel, Southampton – Owl Cottage.

Had a lovely relaxing holiday the perfect antidote to our rushed London life back home.  Visited most of our favourite places and visited Looe for the first time.  Excellent Sunday carvery at Riverside, Boscastle as always, service is excellent as well.  Very much looking forward to next year – Sue & Terry, Middlesex – Dove Cottage.

We have had a great week, we went riding and our best day was when we went to Trebarwith Strand.  Adrian and Karen were great hosts.  Us kids loved playing on the farm and feeding the animals.  Goose Cottage is very comfortable.  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  Thank you Adrian, Karen & Emma xx – Mum, Dad, Ellen & Jess, Taunton – Goose Cottage.

Our third visit and gets better each time.  Karen and Adrian have worked so hard to set-up a perfect holiday base.  They make you feel welcome and wanted and go the extra mile to help make your stay a happy one.  The standard of ‘Owl Cottage’ is definitely 5 Star.  Thank you once again.  Ps the hot tub is great.  See you soon hopefully – Pauline & Geoff, Lancashire – Owl Cottage.
This was our first visit to Cornwall and we had a lovely week.  Our favourite places were on the doorstep – Port Isaac and Trebarwith Strand.  We had lovely weather and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dove Cottage – Jo & Alex, Northampton – Dove Cottage.

We have had a lovely holiday at Goose Cottage.  The accommodation provided is a real home from home and was beautifully clean and well-presented.  We enjoyed some great beach days at Trebarwith Strand and Crackington Haven, both of which were ideal for the children with rock pools, and other amenities.  We loved Looe and Fowey, the ‘town tour’ on a trailer in the latter was great and also kept the kids entertained.  We headed for the Eden Project on our wet day and loved it (despite reservations about the admission fees !!)  What can we say about the pony riding ?  Megan absolutely loved her lesson – thank you Brightly !  Thank you Adrian & Karen – we will be recommending Steppes Farm when we get home xx – Ross, Michelle, Megan & William, Norwich, Norfolk – Goose Cottage.

We’ve had a lovely stay here.  The Cottage has been very comfortable and homely.  Lots of great places to explore locally.  Would happily recommend Steppes Farm.  Many thanks – Iain, Sarah, Harry & Cerys, Farnborough, Hants – Owl Cottage.

Had a wonderful time - hot tub and sauna an extra bonus.  Ideal setting for visiting all beaches and ports.  Good places to visit are Lanhydrock, Cotehele, Buckland Abbey – all within 30 miles.  Many thanks you were all great – Sue & Bill, Liverpool – Dove Cottage.

A lovely holiday again in Goose Cottage (3rd time at Steppes Farm).  We weren’t expecting the weather to be great but we only had one day of rain, so we were very pleased !  Walked Roughtor and visited Trebah Gardens and Trewithen Gardens which were fab.  Great meal in Rojano’s, Padstow.  Cottage and farm were great and Karen and Adrian are so welcoming.  Makes for such a relaxing place.  We even got a cuddle from Cat !  Thank you x – Claire & Thijs, Birmingham – Goose Cottage.

We have had a fantastic holiday.  Emilia and I LOVED THE HORSE RIDING.  Great surfing at Trebarwith Strand, Watergate and New Polzeath.  Watch out for the jellyfish – they stung me !!
Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful Cottage on such a pretty farm.  We recommend going to Port Gaverne for a pub lunch and venturing onto the coast path – not for the faint-hearted !  The children loved going on the ferry from Rock to Padstow.  Steve and Bobby cycled the whole Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow.  Emilia managed it in 2 sections on a tagalong bike.  We went to St. Agnes and loved the beach at Chapel Porth nearby.  Thank you for a wonderful stay.  The hot tub really made it !  Hopefully we will be back to see you again – Steve, Anna, Bobby & Emilia, Clevedon, North Somerset – Owl Cottage.

We’ve had such a fantastic holiday and have had lovely weather.  Did some surfing at Polzeath and would strongly recommend Tregardock beach (if you don’t mind a 20 min walk !)  Worth watching the sunset whilst eating chips by Tintagel Church on the cliffs.  Couldn’t have asked for a better spot for our first holiday together – Megan & Matt, Bristol – Dove Cottage.

Beautiful Cottage, lovely view, placed in a lovely part of North Cornwall.  Highlights for us were Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac, Clovelly (in Devon).  St Kitts Herbery and Nathan Outlaws Restaurant in Rock, well worth a visit.  See you again soon – thank you – Nat, Morris & Libby, London – Goose Cottage.

We’ve had a fabulous time at Owl Cottage.  Entertainment from Colin and the Colinettes, an evening dip in the hot tub and a glorious week of sunshine.  Karen and Adrian made us all very welcome, with good suggestions for beaches and things to do.  We have been to Port Isaac, Padstow, Boscastle, Eden Project and Lands End to name a few, even had a facial at St Kitts Herbery just down the road.  A wonderful week – thank you – Jo, Ellen & Caitlin, Telford,  Shropshire – Owl Cottage.

Had a lovely time.  Adrian gives wonderful advice on where to visit.  We would recommend the cycle path to Padstow on the Camel Trail and a visit to the Eden Project – Alex & Michelle, London – Dove Cottage.

The whole family enjoyed our stay at Goose Cottage.  Polzeath beach good for children.  Sennen and Porthcurno beach are stunning albeit quite a long drive.  Sea Kayaking at Port Quin was fantastic visiting caves and beaches inaccessible unless in a kayak.  Trebarwith Strand was beautiful, unspoilt and scenic.  Bodmin Jail was very interesting.  Port Isaac was stunning and very picturesque, make sure you go down the restricted entry road on the left otherwise you could miss the village.  Thank you so much.  Back soon – Lee, Adele, Oliver & Thomas, Stainburn, North Yorkshire – Goose Cottage.

We have had a lovely week in beautiful Owl Cottage.  Thank you so much for your warm welcome.  The girls loved their ride on Brightly and the hot tub.  Greyham Cat is very cute and what can we say about Colin and the Colinettes ?  We loved our walk to find the Stone Cross and then onto the tranquil Advent Church.  Crooklets beach at Bude is lovely, also worth visiting Rock and catching the ferry across to Padstow.  Thank you again ! xx – Sharon, Martin, Emily & Georgia, Portland, Dorset – Owl Cottage.

Absolutely lovely week in Dove Cottage.  We took Adrian’s advice on places to visit and were not disappointed.  Great location and the daily hot tub and sauna made it a great retreat.  We enjoyed visits from the geese and Colin and the Colinettes even if they did want to join us at the dinner table, such fun.  Thank you – Brin & Ros, Chichester – Dove Cottage.

It has been lovely staying in Goose Cottage, lots of lovely sights and loads to do including pony riding – Samuel

Travelled a long way to visit Cornwall.  Plenty of places to visit.  Thoroughly enjoyed Goose Cottage, it is a lovely relaxing place, well maintained, clean and comfortable.  A Cottage I would recommend to anybody, even the chickens came to visit us.  Sadly our week passed too quickly.  Thank you again for letting us appreciate your lovely farm.  Will definitely come back – Bob, Susan, Fraser & Jayne, Aberdeen – Goose Cottage.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful place with us and we hope to come visit again – Anya, Jim, Mollie & Oliver, Liverpool – Goose Cottage.

drian’s hard work. We have had a wonderful holiday, been to many places most of which were recommended by Adrian (thank you).  Port Isaac is a must to see and Bodmin Jail, Eden Project is very interesting, although quite expensive to get in.  Colin and the girls were very funny and after feeding them for several days I think I have conquered my fear of chickens, at least I won’t run from them now !  Your turn next Karen – feed a snake !!!  Thank you for making our holiday enjoyable, you certainly have a wonderful place to be proud of – Anita & Buster, Norwich – Dove Cottage.

Another relaxing holiday.  If rainy visit Trago Mills and Kingsley Village – both big shopping outlets but Trago is massive !  Visited St. Nectans Glen waterfall – a magical place but take wellies as trail leading to waterfall gets very muddy.  Clovelly – a timeless village and worth a day out.  Bude – lovely as always, do the canal walk inland to the Weir Café for a welcome cup of tea.  See you in September – Sue & Terry, Middlesex – Dove Cottage.

A wonderful relaxing week.  Goose Cottage is so lovely, one of the nicest places we have stayed in, a real credit to Karen and A
We have had a lovely family holiday at Steppes Farm.  Goose Cottage is delightful and has been kept beautifully.  We have all enjoyed feeding and watching the animals on the farm.  Oscar has loved the chickens and Greyham the cat was a hit.  I loved riding Brightly and would recommend a riding lesson to anyone that is interested.  The hot tub is a great treat and the Information Centre is such a lovely idea.  Everything has been thought about and executed brilliantly !  We visited some lovely places including – Padstow, Rock, Jamies Fifteen Restaurant at Watergate Bay (breakfast was lovely).  Port Isaac, Boscastle (beautiful, a must see), Newquay (Fistral Beach is lovely and good for kids).  Dairyland Farm was great for kids of all ages and a good activity for a rainy day).  Trebarwith Strand (closest beach) and Lanhydrock (National Trust house) a really splendid day with a beautifully kept house and gardens and not to be missed.  We also visited Camelford’s fish and chip shop which was lovely.  We’ve had lovely weather and a brilliant time.  Thank you Steppes Farm and we will tell our friends and family – Alex, Amy, Oscar – Goose Cottage.

This was our third visit to Steppes Farm and again the welcome was warm and the accommodation was flawless, this is truly the perfect place to explore some of England’s most dramatic and breath-taking scenery.  Both Karen and Adrian are wonderful hosts and have suggested some great places to visit and things to do.  We can heartily recommend a visit to Bude – this is one beautiful town and a trip to the Camel Valley Vineyard to sample and purchase some of their award winning wines shouldn’t be missed.  For places to eat – The Old Inn at St Breward has a very welcoming atmosphere and good food at great prices, but if visiting Port Isaac pay a visit to the Mote, the food here is sublime.  It is worth trying to combine this with watching the Fishermens Friends perform on the slipway.  Thank you to Karen and Adrian for another great holiday – Ross & Sharon, Chatham, Kent – Dove Cottage.

Steppes Farm is such a beautiful, tranquil place.  We have had a fantastic week in Goose Cottage.  The Cottage is immaculately kept and has stunning views.  It is ideally placed with plenty of beautiful places to visit.  Port Isaac was our absolute favourite, such a wonderful feel about it with stunning amazing scenery.  Adrian met us on our first day and made us feel very welcome.  We will be sad to leave and will miss looking out onto the lovely countryside and seeing the horses and chickens everyday.  Thank you very much Adrian and Karen you must be very proud of Steppes Farm.  We hope to be back soon.  We will definitely be recommending Goose Cottage and Steppes Farm to family and friends.  Ps the mussels and lobster in the Mote, Port Isaac are delicious – Kevin, Lynsey & Lillie, Surrey – Goose Cottage.

We have all had a wonderful week in Goose Cottage.  The Cottage is a real home from home – actually Erin would like to come and live here rather than home !  We were given a very warm welcome, since our first day Erin has looked for ‘her friend’ (Adrian) on return from our trips.  We all really enjoyed her little lessons on Brightly – beautiful, gentle horse, with Emma.  Greyham was a big hit too.  Crackington Haven and Constantine Bay are great days out and if it rains the Eden Project is close enough for a day trip.  A fantastic week – Thank you ! – Mark, Tracy & Erin, Winchester – Goose Cottage.
